Furama Resort

From AU$ 261.00 single, AU$ 131.00 double/twin per person

During the Vietnam War, China Beach was synonymous with R & R. For a week or two US troops could escape to this seaside paradise, a place of swaying palms and sparkling blue sea, and forget all about jungle combat. Thirty years on, China Beach is still a place of respite… without the sound of choppers and B52s flying overhead. And the lodgings, courtesy of the five-star Furama resort, are very much improved.

Designed by award-winning architects, the Furama embodies the traditional architecture of Vietnam with its low rise pavilions built around a courtyard. The 198 guest rooms and suites occupy two four-storey wings. These overlook the ocean on one side and on the other a freshwater swimming lagoon and manicured tropical gardens. Rooms are simple yet luxurious; spacious with solid wood floors, Vietnamese-style furniture and marble bathrooms.

Sliding doors open onto private balconies which overlook the ocean or pool. The resort is large yet with its generous provision of guest facilities and services it manages to maintain an atmosphere of intimacy. The Hai Van Lounge and Café Indochine offer a range of tempting Asian and international dishes, with a choice of indoor or outdoor dining. Recreation options are abundant, with a full range of water sports including scuba diving. Tennis, yoga and golf are also available. The atmospheric Marble Mountains and quaint historical town of Hoi An is just a short drive away.
