Thailand Weather

Thailand spans several climatic zones resulting in substantial weather condition variations between the north and the south. Although Thailand can be visited all year round, below are some things for consideration when selecting the time most suited to you.

Central Thailand (Bangkok) and the sounth.
• Central Thailand’s hottest period of the year runs from March to May with temperatures reaching high 30’s in the daytime. Average temperatures range from 20-35 degrees celsius with December to February experiencing the coolest temperatures. The south experiences similar temperature ranges.
• Central Thailand experiences its rainy season in August and September while in southern Thailand the wet season lasts from May to October. The rainy season is characterised by high humidity and a refreshing afternoon downpour.
• Travelling in the rainy season is not unpleasant and many travellers think that Thailand is at its most beautiful at this time.

Chiang Mai and North
• Northern Thailand experiences four seasons. March to May are the hottest months with high temperatures running above 35 degrees. During the cool season (December to February) the average temperature is around 20 degrees.
• The months of July and August are the wettest in the north while the months from December to May are "dry".
• During the cooler months, temperatures drop as low as 12 degrees at night in Chiang Mai and even lower in nearby hilltribe areas.
