Indochina is an incredibly diverse and fascinating region rich in history and culture and home to inspiring landscapes and welcoming people. We combine our Temples of Angkor, Highlights of Vietnam and Highlights of Laos journeys to create this overview of Indochina’s gems. We begin in Cambodia, a country of dramatic contrasts – from the tragedy of Tuol Sleng Museum to the splendour of the Royal Palace and Angkorian temples. We will also experience the grandeur of the French colonial period and stay in two hotels restored to their former glory by the Raffles Group. From Cambodia we travel to Vietnam – a country that was once associated with the horror of war but is beginning to be better recognised for her lush landscapes, friendly people and sumptuous cuisine. We travel northwards from Saigon to Hanoi, taking in all the highlights and amazing diversity in between while staying in a range of boutique and luxury hotels. End the journey in the relaxed, landlocked country of Laos where meandering rivers, pristine forests and friendly locals await – a fitting conclusion to an unforgettable journey of discovery across three enchanting nations.

Our Highlights of Laos journey will allow you to discover the rustic capital Vientiane and explore enchanting Luang Prabang, a treasure trove of faded colonial architecture and Buddhist monasteries. Our tour leader and local guide will be on hand to provide insights and shopping tips, and introduce you to the delights of Lao cuisine. You will stay at the Settha Palace, an elegant colonial villa in the heart of Vientiane, and at the exquisite La Residence Phou Vao.

A visit to Laos and Cambodia is a glimpse into the Asia of old – majestic history, ancient Buddhist culture, a way of life untouched by modern innovation. Culturally different from their fast paced, Chinese influenced Indochina counterpart, Vietnam, both Laos and Cambodia share the Theravada Buddhism of neighbouring Thailand and are characterised by a gentle, welcoming people keen to share their fascinating history and culture. We begin in Northern Thailand’s mysterious Golden Triangle region where the borders of Laos, Thailand and Myanmar (Burma) meet. From here, take a captivating journey by slow boat along the Mekong River before arriving in Luang Prabang, one of Asia’s most magical destinations. Fly to the quiet Laotian capital of Vientiane and on to the vibrant Khmer capital, Phnom Penh. Culminate with the magnificent temples of Angkor, including Angkor Wat itself, the world’s largest religious monument.
