Beijing is an amazing city that is sure to captivate the imagination. We spend time exploring vast Tiananmen Square, the Gate of Heavenly Peace and the splendid Forbidden City. This ancient city was the sacred heart of the empire for over 500 years, and home to the Ming and Qing Dynasty imperial courts. We also hop on rickshaws and head into one of Beijing’s few remaining hutongs in the backstreets of the city for some close-up glimpses of local life before seeing one of the city’s icons, the Temple of Heaven. We head to Beijing Zoo for a peek at one of China’s most famous animals – the Giant Panda – and visit the Aquarium, too (the largest inland aquarium in the world) and enjoy the whales, dolphins and lively aquatic animal displays. A visit to the Great Wall at Mutianyu is spectacular – walk to the top and take a fun toboggan ride to the bottom! A dramatic performance of Chinese martial arts at an exciting Kung Fu Show marks a fantastic night, and we also have plenty of time to enjoy the city’s markets, cuisine and parks.

Days 1 - 2 ~ Arrive in Beijing and transfer to your hotel

Arrive in Beijing and transfer to your hotel. The next day, begin your city exploration with a visit to this bustling capital’s most iconic site – the Gate of Heavenly Peace, where Tiananmen Square meets the ancient Forbidden City of the imperials. Nowadays the locals enjoy flying kites in this, the world’s largest public square, and you will, too! To liven up your already exciting discoveries in the Forbidden City, enjoy an emperor’s dress-up within the city’s walls. Take a rickshaw ride through the backstreets and have lunch with a local family before visiting a kindergarten and interacting with the local children. Visit the Drum Tower to see an age-old tradition still performed today.

Days 3 - 5 ~ Spend a day at the awesome Great Wall of China at Mutianyu

Spend a day at the awesome Great Wall of China at Mutianyu. Your family will have ample time to explore this wonder of the world, and the best part of all will be taking a thrilling cable car and toboggan ride along its ramparts. In the evening an exciting Kungfu show awaits. On day 4 you will observe the locals performing the ancient art of Tai Chi in the park surrounding the iconic Temple of Heaven before visiting China’s furry ambassador, the Giant Panda, at the Beijing Zoo. The Zoo’s Aquarium offers you wonders from the deep, and following your visit the family will have some free time to absorb the energy of the city, do some shopping or just relax. On day 5 your journey ends with an airport transfer.
