Sichuan is the largest province in Southwest China, renowned for its stunning scenery, diversity of natural and historic sights and world famous spicy cuisine. Its capital, Chengdu, is a Chinese city with a difference and despite rapid development there are still delightful pockets of backstreet life, teahouses and riverside parks to explore. Days 1 - 2 ~ Transfer from the airport to your Chengdu hotel

Transfer from the airport to your Chengdu hotel. The next day visit the Giant Panda Research & Breeding Base to learn about the efforts to protect these amazing animals. En route back to Chengdu, stop at the garden home of the renowned Tang Dynasty poet, Dufu. Visit People’s Park and relax in its teahouses before exploring Qingtai Old Street. This evening experience a famous Sichuan hotpot dinner, then enjoy aperformance of colourful Sichuan Opera.

Day 3 ~ Drive south to Leshan to see Da Fo

Drive south to Leshan to see Da Fo – the largest Buddha statue in the world. Take a cruise past this amazing structure for some great views. Head further south to Mt Emei (Emei Shan), one of four famous Buddhist mountains in China. This cool, forested region is dotted with temples, monasteries, mist-shrouded peaks and stunning viewpoints.

Days 4 - 5 ~ Take a cable car up to Wannian Temple

Take a cable car up to Wannian Temple, one of the most interesting temples on Mt Emei. Enjoy a delicious vegetarian lunch before walking back down through the dense forest and driving back to Chengdu. The tour ends the following day with a transfer to the airport for your onward flight.
