Emeishan

Here in the Sichuan Province area of Emeishan, or Mt Emei, we often witness pilgrims making trips to the many monasteries that feature sombre Buddhist monks, bells and clouds of incense.

Mt Emei, one of the Middle Kingdom’s four famous Buddhist mountains, is trapped in a mysterious medieval timewarp. The climb up its mount is a great way to get some (hard!) exercise and experience religious freedoms in action.

It is an area of stunning beauty, with fir trees, pines and cedars, clouds, precipes in the clouds, flora and fauna. The best season to visit is May to October, at other times, being very high in altitude, Emeishan can reach very low temps indeed!
