Zhujuajiao

Zhujiajiao is a quaint water town offering a relaxing respite from the hustle and bustle of Shanghai. Driving only one hour South of China’s economic capital will take you back in time to a place where cobbled streets line the traditional Southern Chinese architecture and the locals still live a simple life.

The town of Zhujiajiao was founded over 1700 years ago and it covers a relatively small area of 30sqkm. Courtyards, creeks, temples and willow trees offer a drawcard for visitors searching for the more traditional China but the bridges prove to be the biggest attraction. Don’t miss Fangsheng Bridge (Setting-Fish-Free Bridge), a stone arch overpass offering a panoramic view of Zhujiajiao, North Street, a 1km path lined with historic Ming & Qing dynasty buildings or a scenic boat ride down one of the many canals.
