Li River

For many Travel Indochina voyagers the Li River is the scenic highlight of their China journey. The dramatic limestone hills and tranquil riverside farming scenes of this region have long been celebrated by Chinese artists and poets, and when we cruise the calm waters of the Li River surrounded by domed and weather-sculpted peaks its easy to see why.

For many visitors, their experience of this natural wonder is limited to a brief river cruise, but at Travel Indochina we stay on in the small town of Yangshuo, the perfect base for taking in more of this unique area.

Cycle or pedicab into the hill-studded rice fields and villages outside town, join an evening cruise to see the fascinating age-old practice of cormorant fishing, or simply enjoy the colourful markets of the town. And at the end of the day, relax in one of the town’s many al fresco restaurants with a Tsing Tao Beer or one of many varieties of tea.
